This one’s for all the non-bakers in the house….which would include me, I guess. Its weird really. I actually love to cook, and you’d think with all the experimenting in the kitchen I have done over the years I would have worked up a mean baking repetoire. You’d think. But apparently the baking gene skipped me completely because I’m often lucky if I can get the preformed frozen cookie dough
So I’ve got a little confession to make…I’m a wrapaholic. I don’t know what it is. Maybe its the creative outlet, the endless possibilities, the blank canvas if you will, of a gift that needs wrapping. I’m not quite sure I’ve got it figured out. But I do know that it shouldn’t take as long to wrap a gift as it does to pick it out in the first place.
Okay, here is the follow up to my previous post about dressing up a cake. My son is busy watching the “Smurts” (Smurfs) so I have a few minutes. I’ll type fast. I first heard about the company, Fancy Flours, through a Martha Stewart vehicle. It may have been a wedding magazine, it may have been Darcy Miller’s blog, I really can’t remember. Usually with his early am shifts and staying up late because of the whole wanting to see his kids thing, he trumps me no problem. But today I just might have him beat. I’m working off of a good four hours right now and based on the
Rainbow birthday candles are the coolest! I’m not a baker. I’m not a cake decorator. In fact, I finally found the chance to use my offset spatula for the first time with I iced a cake for my son’s 2nd birthday party earlier this month. My sister had given me a cake decorating set, complete with all kinds of fancy icing tips, for my first Christmas as a married woman.
It has been like a hundred and ten degrees here in good ole South Cali the last few days. Summer hot. No, September hot. (If you don’t live in California, you might not appreciate how – although we are known for our summers, its really September that kills you with its million degree heat…but that’s another subject). So yeah, its been super warm and I’ve got to admit, I’m not
