Yummy Cranberry Moscow Mule for Christmas Sipping

December 13, 2019 By Sharon Garofalow Leave a Comment

Jump to Recipe

I love a cranberry cocktail at Christmas, don’t you? This Cranberry Moscow Mule is full of my favorite holiday flavors.

Moscow Mules are easy to make and this one is my go-to for this time of year!

This refreshing drink can be served as people drop in for some holiday cheer or as a signature drink at a party.

You’re going to love the vibrant spices that take this cranberry juice from classic to celebratory!

Make These Cranberry Moscow Mules for Christmas

While most Moscow Mules are just a few ingredients poured into a copper mug, this one does have an extra step.

And it’s totally worth it.

The Spiced Cranberry Juice is easy to make but must be made ahead of time for the best flavor.

But it’s where all that amazing holiday flavor comes from.

It’s a base that I use all season long and can be kept in the fridge for several weeks.

So if you’re only making a few of these Cranberry Mules, you’ll have plenty cranberry juice leftover for other drinks like this Cranberry Vodka Slush.

Can You Use Plain Cranberry Juice?

Yes, of course.

You’ll follow the same recipe as below. You’ll just lose all the holiday flavor for the infused juice I noted above.

It will still be tasty. And you could even try to add some flavor back in with spices added to the juice in powder form.

Add cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg to the cranberry juice and shake it up really well in a cocktail shaker.

I don’t know the measurements to suggest since I haven’t tried it this way. Start small and add more if needed.

It also may separate from the juice as it sits. So just be aware that might happen!

What Type of Ginger Beer to Use?

There are so many brands of ginger beer on the market now. So it’s really a personal preference which type you use.

I like Reed’s (in the regular or extra ginger)https://drizly.sjv.io/Ej5VD because it has a lot of great flavor without too much sweetness or a harsh ginger flavor.

They also have a few flavored options which I have yet to try but might be interesting in a cocktail recipe.

Bundaberg is also a great brand to try and is in a cute bottle. (That totally matters).

I try to pick up a new brand every time I see it but I always tend to go back to Reed’s.

Gosling’s sells a larger bottle of ginger beer so if you are planning on making a bunch, that’s a great option.

How to Make Cranberry Mules

The spiced cranberry juice gives this drink such a fun color and vibrant flavor.

Ingredients

  • 2 oz spiced cranberry juice (make ahead of time)
  • 1.5 oz vodka
  • 1/2 oz fresh lime juice
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • fresh herb for garnish

Make the spiced cranberry juice per directions from this post and keep it in the refrigerator until needed.

If you haven’t heard of Drizly before, you need to check them out!

I hate when I want to make a certain type of cocktail and I figure out that I’m out of some key ingredients.

Drizly delivers alcohol, wine and mixers to your door in about an hour! It’s genius and perfect for this crazy busy time of year!

Directions

  1. In a copper Moscow Mule mug, add spiced cranberry juice, vodka, and fresh lime juice.
  2. Give a quick stir.
  3. Top with ginger beer.
  4. Garnish with fresh herbs (I used sage since I love how it pairs with the cranberry juice!)

I love to add fresh herbs as a garnish, especially during the holidays.

I love how they add another sensory experience as you bring the cup to your mouth.

Since they are so prevalent in holiday recipes, they also convey an almost memory reflex in the brain. At least it does in mine.

I almost included this copper mug on the list of ingredients. I mean, you don’t really need to have one for this cocktail to taste amazing.

They’re just awesome! The outside gets frosty cold and they just make sipping on a Moscow Mule with cranberry even tastier somehow.

If you don’t want to take the time to make the spiced cranberry juice, you can try my Holiday Mule Recipe.

But trust me, you’ll want to make it at some point. You can add just a little club soda or ginger ale and it makes a perfect mocktail!

My Holiday Mule uses a storebought cranberry cider that has all the extra flavor in it. It’s a time saver. But I’m still partial to this version.

The flavor just can’t be beat!

These Cranberry Mules would be perfect to serve for a White Elephant gift exchange or a cookie exchange party for a girl’s night in.
