A strawberry is a perfectly fine piece of food on its own. With its juicy sweetness and bright bold color it’s a tasty, healthy snack. But with the addition of just two more ingredients, it becomes out of the ordinary and feels extra special.

Whether you’re making these for a playdate snack or to enjoy on a warm afternoon, this treat comes together in minutes.

Ingredients

Fresh strawberries on a wooden cutting board with small bowls of brown sugar and sour cream.
What you need to make Strawberries with Sour Cream and Brown Sugar.

This fresh fruit snack really reminds me of this Strawberries Romanoff Dip.

How to Make Brown Sugar Strawberries

  1. Clean the strawberries in whatever method you prefer and make sure they are dried well.
  2. Put the sour cream in a small dish.
  3. Put the brown sugar in a small dish.
  4. Dip a strawberry into the sour cream and then into the brown sugar.
  5. Then eat your face off.

Try it. Then serve it to your closest friends. The ones who eat just as much junk food as you do and don’t judge you for it. The people who you plan all your meals out in advance with before heading out on a girl’s trip to maximize the dining possibilities.

The friends who are fine to see you in your “fat” pants after you have eaten too many strawberries dipped in sugar. If you even question the reaction you may get from a friend it is best to not introduce them to fat strawberries (I didn’t really intend to name them that but it has a nice ring to it, fat strawberries). You’ve been warned. Happy eating.

Would you try this? I’ll be honest, I only just really started on the whole sour cream train a few years ago. But there is something about the tanginess mixed with the brown sugar and strawberry that just makes your mouth so happy.

This super easy strawberry snack is fast to make and even faster to eat! The sour cream makes it creamy and the brown sugar gives it a boost in flavor that you didn’t know a strawberry needed.

Variations

If you don’t have or don’t like sour cream, you could also use Greek yogurt. And mascarpone would be so good it would make me dance around the room in glee.

This works best with strawberries but you can try it also with pineapple, apples, pears and other fruit providing they aren’t too wet for the sour cream to stick.

If you prefer, you can slice the strawberries and top with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle with brown sugar.
