Your whole family will love this tasty strawberry yogurt pie recipe!

This Strawberry Yogurt Pie is almost foolproof and has the creamiest, dreamiest strawberry flavor.

I live for desserts that basically only require stirring or dumping (hello, dump cakes), which is why I love easy recipes like my Frozen Peanut Butter Pie.

And while I’m not a huge fan of yogurt (I like to hide the flavor like in this Chocolate Yogurt Fruit Dip), it is pretty tasty in this pie.

Why you’ll love this strawberry yogurt pie recipe

Strawberries and cream are a match made in heaven so pairing Cool Whip with strawberries is an outstanding flavor pairing.

A hint of orange zest gives it just the right amount of citrus flavor to make this feel fresh, even though this easy dessert is frozen.

This recipe is perfect for beginners since you use store-bought pie crusts and the hardest part of this recipe is cutting the strawberries.

What you need to make a Frozen Strawberry Yogurt Pie.

This recipe uses fresh strawberries but you could also use thawed, sliced strawberries (not in syrup).

Original Cool Whip gives the perfect vanilla-y flavor that I love but they have tons of varieties now that I haven’t tried yet. Take caution if using a lower fat or alternative version. They may not freeze the same.

If you don’t have an orange, you can skip the zest but I really think it adds something special. Skip that step if you would need to make a trip to the store just for that one item.

I prefer strawberry Greek yogurt to regular yogurt and I used the fruit on the bottom variety. Just make sure to mix it well in the cup before you add it to your mixing bowl. You can use regular strawberry yogurt also. It will probably add some extra sweetness to the recipe.

Graham cracker pie crusts are ideal. Since this is yogurt pie is a no-bake pie, you don’t want to use a pasty-style crust. Use an Oreo cookie crust or some other store-bought crust that doesn’t require baking.

Step 2

Add the orange zest and delight in the gorgeous citrus scent it gives off as you stir. This zester is something I use all the time!

I learned that orange and strawberry were a great flavor complement when I, for some reason, put orange juice on my angel food cake when we had Strawberry Shortcake one time. And that is how I’ve eaten it ever since.

To Serve

Let the Strawberry Yogurt Pie stand in the fridge for at least an hour before serving so you can cut the pie more easily.

The pie gets really solid so you’ll want to make sure that you plan ahead and start thawing it well before you plan to serve it.

Add extra whipped cream or strawberries to decorate the pie when serving. Edible flowers are also a nice, colorful touch!

Tips and Tricks

  • Change up the flavor of the crust to make other flavor variations! Oreo crust? Yum! And just imagine how delicious a pretzel crust would be!
  • Swap out the strawberry for peaches and use peach-flavored yogurt for another take on this recipe.
  • I like to use Greek yogurt as it has more protein and usually less sugar than traditional yogurt.
  • Technically, you don’t HAVE to freeze it. You can place in the fridge for a few hours to chill then serve. It won’t keep it’s shape as well, but the flavor is still delicious! The texture will be more like a mousse.
  • Don’t want big chunks of strawberry? Toss them into a blender and create a quick puree, then fold into the batter.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you thaw Cool Whip fast?

The best way to thaw Cool Whip is to leave it in the fridge for about 4-5 hours. But if you haven’t planned ahead, you can still thaw it out rather quickly. 1). Remove the lid from the container and microwave it, on the default setting, in 30-second increments. You’ll want to stir in between each time. This should take about 2 minutes. 2). Place the Cool Whip Container (sealed) in a bowl or sink full of cool water. It should be thawed in about 45 minutes. Do not leave the container on the counter to thaw as it contains dairy and bacteria could start to develop.

How do you store Strawberry Yogurt Pie?

Store leftover yogurt pie in the freezer, tightly covered, for up to 1 week. Let sit in the fridge to thaw before serving. It is not recommended to put those leftovers back into the freezer. At this point, it’s probably time to say goodbye to the pie.

Does the yogurt make this pie tart?

NO! I am not a huge fan of yogurt but this pie is perfection. It’s not overly sweet but it’s super refreshing. The yogurt adds to the creaminess but the tang is cut down thanks to the addition of the Cool Whip.

  1. Hi there,
Could the measurements in the recipe be off? The photo shows one 8 ounce tub of cool whip and the recipe calls for 16 ounces. Using 16 ounces, I needed to use two pie crusts. And it tasted like a cool whip pie. : ) Thanks.
