Ingredients
- Vodka: I like to use Tito’s vodka in my cocktails but you can use whatever you have on hand. (Or use one of the best vodkas for Moscow Mules).
- Cointreau: Cointreau can be a bit pricey so you can substitute Triple Sec if you prefer.
- Iced Tea: You can make your own tea or use store-bought iced tea. I think black tea tastes best. For this recipe I used Teavana Meyer Lemon Black Tea. Earl Grey or Ginger Peach black tea would probably be delicious!
- Honey: I used honey to add extra sweetness to the drink but you also could use simple syrup.

How to Make a Vodka and Iced Tea Cocktail
Step 1: In a tall glass with ice measure in your vodka, orange liqueur and black tea.
Step 2: Add honey, if you need it – this will depend on the sweetness of your brand of iced tea.
Step 3: A squeeze of fresh lemon is all you need to finish off this simple vodka and iced tea drink.
Step 4: Stir with a bar spoon.
To garnish, clap a sprig of mint in between your palms once or twice before you add it to the glass. It will release even more fragrance! Your nose will love it, trust me!
Top tips
- If you are brewing your own iced tea, make it on the stronger side! As the ice melts, it will dilute it, and you don’t want to lose too much of the tea flavor.
- If you buy store-bought tea, look for something without too much added sugar. I like to control the sweetness when I’m making the drink.
- Sweet tea is a thing, but I am not a fan. You can easily make this a spiked sweet tea with your favorite sweet tea.
- Try this with homemade Lavender tea. It has tons of flavor and would be delicious with vodka.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you don’t have any Cointreau or Triple Sec, you can just leave it out of iced tea vodka! Cointreau or Triple Sec adds a hint of citrus flavor and some sweetness. If you’d like, you can add a splash of orange juice, or a squeeze of fresh orange juice.
If you find that the honey doesn’t mix well, it might be that your vodka iced tea is too cold. Honey can sometimes be clumpy if it gets too cold. You can try agave syrup (which is more forgiving of temperature) or simple syrup. Or you can heat the honey up in the microwave for about 10 seconds and see if that helps blend it in.
Yes! You can add even more flavor to this super simple iced tea cocktail by using flavored vodka. My homemade orange-infused vodka would be so yummy in this.
You can also create your own ice tea flavored vodka for more tea flavor and to use in other tasty cocktails.
You can make this Vodka Iced Tea skinnier and with lower sugar by skipping the Cointreau or Triple Sec. However, you may still need to add some honey or a sweetener to help balance the flavors.
