If you’ve read this blog for any length of time you know that I love a good Moscow Mule. I’ve shared many different Moscow Mule recipes of this fine summer cocktail and today I have another vodka mule recipe to share with you.
A few weeks ago I went up to Los Angeles for the launch party for a delicious new flavor of Absolut. Oak by Absolut is full of flavors like caramel, cinnamon and vanilla but not in a flavored vodka kind of way. No, this vodka is aged in barrels and the flavor notes are picked up during that process. It adds a richness and warmth to the vodka that you would normally find in whiskey. It is the perfect ingredient to switch up a classic vodka mule recipe. And perfect for your summer imbibing.
The party, hosted by Absolut, allowed us to really get to know the product. One of their mixologists spoke about the process of making the vodka and has us do a tasting to see if we could pick out flavors. I’ve never been someone who wanted to sip on vodka neat, but this was really nice, straight up. It is smooth, with some sweetness from vanilla and a subtle hint of smoke. And while it’s great on its own, it is also perfect for mixed drinks. We were offered Oak and Coke upon our arrival and loved how the flavors worked together. I also really love that they shared easy cocktails with us that we could recreate at home. Like, Oak and Coke, is just vodka and coke. Boom.Next we tried the Oak Sour. It was a simple recipe of Oak by Absolut, fresh lemon juice and simple syrup. Also delicious. Also supes easy. Then we tried my favorite of the night, the Oak Mule. I decided to share the recipe with you because it is still a classic Mule, but with a flavor twist to make it feel new. Oak by Absolut is only available in certain markets, like Los Angeles and San Diego, or you can order it online (free shipping at the moment!). Then you only need Ginger Beer and fresh lime juice. You can make the drink in a regular glass, but copper mugs are SO much cuter! Add ice… And I take a second here to talk about how cute this cheese board is? I think I need to get a few more!! I die for the shape!Add 2 parts Oak by Absolut.to 5 parts Ginger Beer.
Squeeze 1/4 to 1/2 fresh lime juice. I always do more because I LOVE lime juice. Give it a quick stir. I used my knife so I didn’t have to dirty another dish because I’m lazy like that. And because, that’s like, bad ass. Then enjoy! This ice-cold vodka mule is perfect for blazing hot summer days. This one would also be great in the fall months because of the warm vanilla notes of the vodka. In conclusion, this drink works any time.
Vodka Mule with Oak Absolut
Oak Aboslut is like a cross between Whiskey and Vodka and I'm not mad at it. Which makes this Vodka Mule a oaky twist on the classic and super yummy.

- Squeeze of 1/4 to 1/2 fresh lime
Add ice to a copper mug.
Add all ingredients.

*Absolut provided me with a bottle of Oak by Absolut. All opinions and hangovers are my own.
