Sweet and Decadent Kahlua and Cream Recipe
This simple Kahlua and Cream recipe makes a deliciously creamy coffee cocktail flavored with cinnamon and vanilla! Ready in just minutes, this simple drink idea (requiring no special equipment!) is a great alternative to the classic espresso martini after dinner – or just because!
Why you’ll love this Kahlua Cocktail
This easy Kahlua and Cream drink is basically a lighter version of a White Russian, but without the vodka. It’s the perfect after-dinner coffee cocktail. Or you could serve it at your next brunch.
Flavored with cinnamon and vanilla, it’s rich and cozy. It would also batch up really well for guests.

Ingredients
Here’s what you need to make this Kahlua and Cream recipe:
- Kahlua
- heavy cream, chilled
- cinnamon
- vanilla extract
If you want a slightly lighter drink, you could substitute half and half in this recipe, but it will be quite runny. I like my creamy drinks to be slightly thicker.
Cinnamon is the obvious spice pairing for the coffee and rum notes in the Kahlua, but if you’re making this close to the holidays a little nutmeg would also be a lovely addition.

Variations
- Make it a White Russian – add vodka to turn it into an easy White Russian cocktail.
- Go dairy-free – use coconut milk in place of the heavy cream for a dairy-free version of this Kahlua and Cream cocktail, but keep in mind Kahlua itself is not suitable for vegans if that matters to you.
- Use flavored Kahlua – any of Kahlua’s other flavors from Salted Caramel to Chili Chocolate would work really well here. Although if you’ve got a bottle of Mint Mocha to hand I’d leave out the cinnamon and vanilla from the cream mixture.
Frequently Asked Questions
If you’d like a sweeter drink, add a little simple syrup. My Vanilla Simple Syrup and my homemade Vanilla Cinnamon Simple Syrup would work really well here.
I think there is something a bit gross about the way the cream clings to a cinnamon stick if you were to add one to the glass, but a sprinkling of cinnamon on top of the drink would provide a pretty finish. Or you could serve it in a cinnamon sugar rimmed glass.
