    Using Simple Syrups in Cocktails

One of the best things about flavored syrups is that they really punch up the flavor. While I sometimes like to muddle herbs or fruit in my drinks, an infused sugar syrup really brings a bold, concentrated flavor.

And they are easy to adjust to your liking. I don't love overly sweet drinks, so often I will change up the ratio of sugar to water to make sure that I can add more flavor to the drink without extra sweetness.

Typically, you can substitute the same amount of flavored simple syrup for regular simple syrup that a recipe calls for.

    Ideas to try

Mojitos made with a flavored simple syrup take this classic cocktail to the next level. You can add a fruity twist or punch up the mint flavor even more.

For a refreshing and unique drink, make my lavender lemonade made with lavender-infused syrup.

Try pairing a pineapple rum cocktail with a cinnamon syrup. It will really take it to new heights.

Tequila-based drinks benefit from simple syrups infused with jalapeño or cilantro for a spicy kick.

And you don't need to infuse syrup with just one flavor! You can create tasty combinations like rosemary and grapefruit or ginger and orange.

These are just a few ideas to get you started. With a little experimentation, you can create your own signature cocktails using your homemade flavored simple syrups.

    Storage

Store your homemade simple syrup in an air-tight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to a month.

Adding homemade flavored simple syrups to your happy hour drinks is an easy way to add tons of flavor to your cocktails.
