Muddle the blackberries, mint leaves, sugar, and lime juice together until the blackberries have released their juices and the sugar has dissolved.
Add the rum, followed by the ice.
Top with soda water and gently stir to combine.
Garnish with more blackberries and a mint sprig.
Notes
No fresh blackberries? Use frozen — just thaw them first in a glass or bowl so you can capture the juice that melts also.Simple syrup: While white sugar is super traditional when making a mojito recipe, you can use if you prefer.Amp up the berry flavor – Muddling fresh fruit often keeps the flavors pretty subtle. Substitute the sugar in this recipe for my blackberry simple syrup. If you want to make this classic cocktail a bit more traditionally you can use 3-4 lime wedges instead of lime juice. Just add them to the glass with the mint and sugar and muddle them well.If this mojito with blackberry is too sweet, add a little more fresh lime juice to balance it out.
