With fresh nutmeg and ginger, this delicious Spiced Pear Cocktail with rum is refreshing and full of fall flavor. It's a great Thanksgiving drink idea!
Muddle the fresh ginger and pear juice in a cocktail shaker.
Add spiced rum, a few grates of fresh grated nutmeg and ice.
Shake well.
Strain in to a cocktail glass filled with ice.
Top with fresh grated nutmeg.
Edible flowers as garnish are optional but gorgeous.
Notes
If you want to make a batch of these cocktails, consider buying ginger juice. It will be much faster than having to muddle fresh ginger for multiple drinks. Just start with a little and add more if needed. Ginger is STRONG!
In a pinch, you could use 1/4 tsp ground ginger in place of fresh ginger but you will lose that bite and heat that the fresh root brings. Taste and add more as needed.
If you don't have spiced rum you can try tequila, bourbon, vodka or dark rum.
If you are looking for pear juice at the store, don't forget to check the baby food aisle. If you can't find any juice, look for pear nectar instead. You may need to add a little fresh lemon if the nectar is too sweet for you.
