If you don’t know where the catch phrase You Got it Dude came from we clearly need to talk! My extreme excitement for the start of Fuller House on Netflix led me to wanting, no, NEEDING to create and share this awesome You Got it Dude free printable quote! My family has seen the whole season and it’s exactly like I hoped it would be. I’m beyond excited that there is finally a family show, that all of us will enjoy, and watch together! Please tell me you are just as excited as I am!?
As a member of the Netflix #StreamTeam, I get share my favorite programs and movies with you monthly. Thank you for supporting the brands that let me share my love of television with you!
You may remember that I had the chance to hang out with Netflix and find out all about their new shows at the TCAs. It was such an exciting day as I got to see a bunch of celebrities and find out about the new shows that I will most definitely be binge watching. We also got a chance to have a small round table discussion with the female stars of Fuller House. YOU GUYS! They are just as magical in person as you may have guessed. Candace Cameron Bure is my Hallmark Channel queen (and yeah she’s on The View too, but Hallmark!). Jodie Sweetin is freaking GORGEOUS in person. And Andrea Barber is not at all Kimmy-like, which really shows what an amazing comedic actress she is!
But what I’m most looking forward to is the fact that the release of this show means that we can have a family TV night. Thanks to iPads and a huge void in programming that appeals to both adults and kids, watching TV together was a thing of the past. The arrival of Fuller House signals the commitment Netflix is making to creating more quality content that families can enjoy together. They have tons of programs coming out this year (and over the next few years) that should help bridge the gap of entertaining family shows.
When I told my oldest son (9) we could watch Fuller House he was SO excited! He knows of Full House thanks to reruns on Nick at Nite. My younger son (7) had seen it but had never really paid attention to it. We all sat down to watch it together. My oldest said, “Hey I know this theme song! I hope Uncle Jesse is on there. He’s awesome.” And after he saw him he said, “That guy looks the same!” Yes, Uncle Jesse hasn’t aged at all!! We watched the first two episodes that night before bed. We watched another episode when he got home from school the next day (sorry Dad). And then on Friday night, we ordered a pizza, put on our pajamas and watched the rest of the episodes that we had access to. The show is nostalgic and references old plot lines and characters but not so much that it alienates the younger viewers. My son did ask me some questions about how everyone was connected which was totally to be expected. Of course, it’s a huge bummer that the Michelle character, and originator of the phrase You Got it Dude, is not physically on the show but the fact that they got everyone else is huge! However, do not watch the first episode and think you have the show figured out. Since they didn’t get to have a series finale episode, the first Fuller House became that for them. It ties up loose ends, reintroduces characters and paints what life has been like since we last saw the Tanner family. By the second episode, you start to really feel what the show will be like. It’s familiar but modern and I think they really nailed it. Just like family shows in the past, there are jokes for adults and some for the kids. Just know that there might be things you need to discuss with your kids depending on their age. For instance, Stephanie Tanner has grown up! And so has her bosom. There is one red dress in particular that really lets us know that she is a full-grown woman which prompted a conversation about bras – brought on by my son…There are some fun guest stars on the show too. In episode 3 Macy Gray performs (she also says, “damn” which my kids think is a bad word and calls DJ and Kimmy lesbians – this was as edgy as it got in the first 6 episodes, but again, this might prompt some questions from inquiring minds). The same episode has two Dancing with the Stars alums. This was such a funny episode, which led to DJ and Kimmy doing the Dirty Dancing dance and, more importantly, THE lift, in a dance contest. Which of course, my kids tried to immediately recreate…
Fuller House is available on Netflix now. So when your kids ask if you will watch Fuller House with them, your answer better be, “You got it, dude!”
