This black cocktail idea is a fun one for the upcoming holiday. Make this Halloween Moscow Mule to keep the ghouls away. With fresh blackberries, rosemary and spiced rum, this drink is flavorful and perfect for tricks and treats.
To a copper Moscow Mule mug, add blackberries, leaves from one sprig of rosemary and lime juice.
Muddle to release all of the flavors.
Add spiced rum and activated charcoal.
Use a bar spoon to mix well.
Add ice and top with ginger beer.
Taste and decide if you need to add a splash of sparkling wine. Add if needed.
Garnish with rosemary sprig and eyeballs.
Top your Halloween Moscow Mule with prosecco or sparkling wine.
Notes
Use between 2-3 ounces of ginger beer for best flavor. It may not fill the copper mug to the top. Using more could overpower the other flavors.
The blackberry flavor just wasn't coming through in this Halloween Moscow Miule when I first made this. In this recipe, I muddle the fruit and herb together but it is a pretty subtle flavor. For an even more concentrated flavor, you can use blackberry simple syrup (or buy one here). I don't love sweet drinks so I prefer to muddle. But they are a great way to add more concentrated flavors to cocktails.
I don't mind having pieces of fruit or herbs in my cocktail. But if you do mind, you can strain the cocktail. Use a cocktail pitcher to make the drink and strain as you pour into the copper mug. Or if you really wanted to, you could make this Halloween Mule in a cocktail shaker and then double strain it from there into a glass with ice.
If you aren't a fan of rosemary, you can swap it out for almost any other fresh herb.
