Rose and Sumac Goat Cheese Appetizer

THIS IS MY FAVORITE APPETIZER! The rose petals and sumac make this totally unique and crazy delicious!

  • 2 TBSP dried rose petals plus extra for garnish (I used edible flowers for garnish instead)
  • 1 TBSP pink peppercorns
  • 2 tsp sumac
  • 2 tsp Maldon sea salt
  • 4 small 4 oz goat cheese logs (or 2 bigger as seen above)
  • Small pinch of gold flakes, if using
  • 4 tsp extra virgin olive oil


  1. Mill spices (reserve gold and sumac) in a coffee grinder. The pink peppercorns can be ground pretty fine, but the rose petals shouldn't be.

  2. Mix together the milled rose petals, sumac, pink peppercorn and sea salt.

  3. Spread on a plate and roll cheese until coated.
  4. Sprinkle with gold, if using.

  5. Drizzle logs with olive oil.

  6. Serve with lightly toasted crostini.
