Our family loves to visit Disneyland and California Adventure, especially during the holidays. But with all the crowds, we were finding that we could only get on a couple of rides each visit. I’m totally a roller coaster type of girl so I found this very troubling. I grew up in Anaheim (my husband even went to Disney Elementary School!) and spent tons of time at Disneyland as a kid. Now that I am bringing my own kids, I want to share all of my favorite rides with them. But at the rate we were going, it would be years before they got to see all of them. When we tried out MaxPass, we fell in love with it! If you aren’t upgrading your trip by getting MaxPass, you are not taking full advantage of the parks! Here is why my family loves MaxPass and why you need to get it on your next visit. As a member of the “media” I am sometimes given park hopper tickets for my family to check out what’s happening at the Disneyland Resort. And the last few visits, I have also been given MaxPass to try out. While I was given the service for free to try out, I don’t think I would ever do Disneyland or California Adventure without it. So what the heck is MaxPass? I’m going to tell you.
Like the Fastpass, MaxPass helps you get on popular rides without having to wait in line for, like, ever. With Fastpass, you take your enterance ticket from the park and insert it in to a kiosk that goes along with the ride you want a Fastpass for. The Fastpass area is usually right across or next to the ride that it goes with. Which means that if you want a Fastpass for something in California Adventure, but you are currently in Disneyland, you have to walk all the way over to California Adventure to get the Fastpass.
Depending on when it tells you to come back for the ride, you either hang around and try to get on other rides, or walk all the way back to Disneyland and ride things over there until the time of your Fastpass. That’s a lot of walking which means you aren’t getting to do other things.
While Fastpass is still a really cool thing, and totally free to use, it is no match for the MaxPass system!MaxPass costs $10 per person (over age 10) for each trip, on top of the price of a ticket. And it is worth every penny! You use MaxPass in conjunction with the Disney app. You simply scan your park ticket (and those of the rest of your party) and manage everything right from your phone! MaxPass allows you to make Fastpass selections on your mobile device which is WAY more efficient. You also get unlimited Disney Photo Pass downloads for a day. If you don’t take advantage of the park photographers you really need to! It’s the perfect way to get your whole party in a photo without leaving anyone out! This is huge and has become part of our day now. We love to seek out the photo spots and get family photos taken! The app is super easy to use, not only for Fastpasses and photos but also for finding out wait times and making dining reservations. It’s really changed the way we tackle the parks. We are able to get on so many more rides now. Not only do we get to ride more rides, but we also have more time for trying out the delicious seasonal treats like the Peppermint Mickey Beignets, if your kids will share. If I’m honest, I really don’t mind when my family has to wait in a line though. It’s the perfect time to enjoy the quiet with a delicious cocktail (available in California Adventure!).Did you know you can also get Fastpass for some of the other attractions at the park, like shows? Check out the Disneyland site for all the terms and conditions for using MaxPass including directions on how to purchase and sync with the Disneyland app.
MaxPass is AWESOME!
*Thank you to Disneyland for providing tickets with the MaxPass option for my family.
