Who knew that two of my favorite things would actually go so well together?!!! I was reading the February issue of Fine Cooking and saw their blurb about Mercer’s Dairy’s wine ice cream. Yum. I have been really in to the idea (as I may have mentioned once or twenty times) of a wine tasting party. But this award winning product is so great because it works in so many settings. How cool to set up a few of these flavors at a birthday party as a tasting?! Not every one is as in to wine as I am (or want to be :) so the fact that it is served up in some tasty ice cream? Genius! There are six different flavors to choose from: Ala Port, Cherry Merlot, Red Raspberry Chardonnay, Chocolate Cabernet, Peach White Zinfandel and Royal White Riesling. What a great addition to a bachelorette party or even a baby shower where some think that introduction of spirits is in poor taste (lame). The price is doable at $6 per pint (although remember to add in for overnight shipping on dry ice) and is available from Mercer’s Dairy. They are currently selling in Whole Food stores in Chicago, St. Louis, New York and the surrounding areas as well as some specialty retailers and restaurants in the Eastern United States. There is 5% alcohol in the ice cream so you must be 21 years old to enjoy!
