I came in to my room the other day and found that my husband had left me a pile of Stance socks on my bed. These are my favorite socks. Is that odd to have a favorite sock brand? Their patterns are awesome. I actually don’t enjoy socks on the whole. I have rather aggressive big toes and holes form rather easily in my socks. I know. Crazytown. Me AND my toes. But these don’t wear out for me and they are just plain rad.
Since I ran out of the cinnamon coffee creamer, I went back to adding this super yummy Spiced Vanilla Bean Sugar to my coffee in the morning. As you can tell, it is empty and I’m pretty broken up about it. I desperately need to go pick up some more soon!
We celebrated my husband’s 95 year old grandfather at Alpine Village, in Torrance, a few weeks ago and I LOVED shopping in their market. There is something about international candy that just delights me. Like, I saw these little things, that resemble tiny toasts, and I had to have them. I couldn’t read the container but guessed from the icing that they were probably a sweet treat. I was right. They were similar to a chocolate crouton in texture (which I didn’t hate) and were not overly sweet. My youngest son polished off that container in one day. I’m glad that from this angle you can’t tell how large the container is… And who wouldn’t want a bag of deliciously sweet and firm cats?
They were so hard that you couldn’t even really chew them. And although they were licorice, they had an odd caramel undertone. I shouldn’t have opened the bag but kept my sweet cats in the bag (pun intended).
I somehow just came across Tripping out with Allie and Georgia on the Cooking Channel. I’m obsessed. I love these gals. They are so good together and are really fun to watch. They travel around and try out restaurants and other activities and then bring the ideas back to their place in Los Angeles and throw a party inspired by their trip for their friends. Upon further girl crush investigation, I found that they write a blog for their show (I love their “You Partied Too Hard” Hostess Gift Idea), and Kristin just posted about their podcast (which I haven’t heard yet because how the heck do you listen to a podcast?). See their full website here!
Sorry for the crummy iPhone pic but I am in love with this new restaurant and I didn’t have my good camera with me. This place just opened in Irvine a few weeks ago called Urban Plates. Their concept is that it is “farm to table, that won’t break the bank.” How awesome is that? No dish costs over $10 and they offer everything from salads, to entrees, soups, pizzas, and amazing side dishes. They also serve beer and wine as well as fun soda options like, blueberry. It was so crowded the day I tried it out but it was so worth it. I tried the steak pizza with grilled onions, blue cheese and arugula. Amazing! And the Brussels Sprouts?! Best ever. The real test for me was the iced tea. It seems like every time I find a restaurant that I really like, the iced tea sucks. This does not suck. It is the unsweetened Mango tea and it is perfection. Job well done, Urban Plates!
