Can't stop, won't stop. Yes, this is my husband's company. And I'm obsessed with it. I think being able to make custom gifts, clothes, etc. is awesome and that everyone should do it. And I LOVE my kid's art projects that they bring home from school. So I decided to use one of my favorite pieces of art to create some gifts. For myself. But with the holidays coming up, they really would be a good idea for other people too. So I only have one question. Have you downloaded Yoshirt yet?
The app is super awesome and you can create all kinds of custom goods right on your phone. For this project though, I used my computer and a scanner before putting the image in my phone photo library. It took a little bit longer (like 5 minutes) but I was so pleased with the outcome. This mouth art was something my son did in kindergarten last year. I was instantly in love with it and it sort of reminded me of The Aesthete. It has been hanging on my kitchen wall but I finally realized it would be the perfect artwork for a Yoshirt.
I used my flatbed scanner to scan the mouth. Then I used Photoshop to clean it up a little bit. You could see my son's name bleeding through from the other side and there was some torn paper where he may have moved the teeth around. I am not an expert at Photoshop so all the things I did were super simple. But it made it look a little more finished. Once I got the mouth the way I wanted it (the final image works best if it is square), I emailed it to myself and saved it to my phone's photo library. Then I added it in the Yoshirt app and started to play around with the products. I totally should have had these leggings made, right?! The app can take an image and tile it which makes it look SO cool!
Or you can use the image as is, as shown on the stash sack above. All this fun from one kid's art project and the coolest app ever. I used the mouth tiled as my new phone case. It's such a fun story to share when people ask me about the case. And my son is so proud because there is a product with his art on it. Now I'll just need to teach him about licensing and image rights…I also had the stash sack made. (BTW, I could totally get all this for free but I usually pay for it. I, alone, would put the company out of business with my freebie requests…). The size is perfect for travel and they are super reasonably priced! These would make such a great gift for your girlfriends! I'm really pestering them to make this clutch size sack. This one was a sample and I put my two fave guys on it. But the size is just right for a night out!
So if you are looking for the perfect gift for the grandparents, this is it. Or if you want to make one of a kind, statement pieces of wearable art, this is your jam! Make sure to allow plenty of time for holiday ordering! The process isn't lightning fast so plan accordingly to get your custom pieces in time!
