As a lifelong allergy sufferer I had hoped that, miraculously, my kids wouldn’t get them. But they did. Last year we had full allergy testing done on my older son and now we know exactly what makes his poor little nose turn in to a faucet. With my younger son, it’s been harder. Sometimes he shows allergy symptoms and sometimes I think he’s got a cold. It can be really hard to tell if your child has allergies or a cold. I’m partnering with Claritin to give you the tools to make it easier to understand the signs of allergies.
Ever since college, when I would go visit my sister out-of-state, she would make me go buy my own tissues at the store. My nose ran constantly and she said she couldn’t afford to buy all that tissue. If you visit my home, you’ll probably find a tissue box in every room and sometimes next to whatever person is there. Currently, there is a tissue box within arms reach of my computer because ALLERGIES ARE THE WORST.
Here is a photo of my son from our recent trip to Disneyland. I’ve been watching his symptoms over the last few months and finally scheduled an appointment with our allergist. Child allergies can be hard to figure out. With school starting, I couldn’t tell if his symptoms were allergy related or a cold. Turns out, it’s been both. Thanks, germs! The makers of Children’s Claritin® know that children’s allergies can be hard to decipher so they created an online resource to help you! The Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit is a website which includes various tools to help you understand and manage allergies in kids. Broken in to several sections, the site provides you with helpful information about managing children’s allergies, and how to plan for your doctor visit.

Head to the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit to learn more about these symptoms.
One of my favorite parts of the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit is this allergy symptom tracker. It helps you keep track of what’s going on with your child and help you understand what you need to do to make them feel better. Then when you’ve decided it’s time to move forward and schedule an appointment for your child, the site gives you talking points to help guide your conversation with your doctor. If your child does have allergies, the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit also shares tips on how to manage your child’s allergies. He LOVES his stuffed animals but they might be contributing to his discomfort. I do what I can to keep dust mites at bay.
Even with all my efforts to remove allergens from my home, sometimes medicine is still needed. Children’s Claritin is the #1 Pediatrician recommended non-drowsy oral allergy brand for kids ages 2+. It provides 24 hour relief from runny noses, sneezing, itchy and watery eyes and itchy nose or throat. I love that it comes in chewable form (in grape or bubble gum) or a syrup (grape) which makes it easy to use at home or take it with us on vacation.
Visit the Smart Allergy Mom™ Toolkit and bookmark the site for easy reference to learn more about seasonal allergy symptoms and allergy relief options.
