Coffee. Sweet, coffee. It’s my favorite part of the day! But sometimes you need something more than just milk or cream in your cup of joe.

And what’s great about this recipe is that you can make it right in a pitcher. No stove needed!

Flavored coffee creamer is easy to make at home

This homemade coffee creamer is freaking delicious. We served it at the geometric brunch shoot that I shared as a fun back-to-school idea for moms.

Because this creamer is the perfect way to treat yo self.

And sometimes moms need help doing that. Adding this creamer to your coffee instantly makes you feel like putting on your slippers, finding a cozy blanket, and watching your favorite TV shows all day.

This homemade flavored creamer recipe served as the base and was modified to feature cinnamon and vanilla flavors. Because, yum.

It reminds me of my favorite coffee house drink order. But it’s so super easy to make and costs WAY less.

There really are endless varieties that you can make following this basic recipe. In fact, I made a Pumpkin Pie Coffee Creamer for Savvy Sassy Moms. It’s perfect for fall.

It’s one of my favorite recipes. BECAUSE IT’S CRAZY TASTY!

I intend to make all the different kinds. Except that I will probably gain, like a million pounds (I don’t blame the creamer – I have a terrible diet in general, I love me a bag of Trader Joe’s Kettle Corn).

Ingredient Notes

Ingredients for homemade coffee creamer.

Just six ingredients are all it takes to make the most delicious flavored creamer that will level up your morning coffee.

Most of these ingredients you can probably find in your pantry which makes it really quick to make.

Cinnamon and vanilla add so much flavor to the creamy base made with half and half and sweetened condensed milk.

The sugar makes it decadent and is the perfect way to sweeten your creamer.

Add the condensed milk and Half & Half to a blender to combine. I use a Ninja Blender now and LOVE it!

I have used condensed milk before but never really paid attention to it. I was surprised by the smell. I figured it would smell sweeter or something. But it is a milk-based product after all and it smelled, well, milky.

Next, add the spices and vanilla to the milks and blend again until well combined.

At this point inhale deeply. It smells amazing. And imagine you are swimming in it.

Pour the finished cinnamon vanilla creamer into whatever jar you want to store it in. If you put it in one of these super fancy mason jars it is also ready to gift.

Take some to the neighbor. Take some to a teacher. Or hoard it for yourself like I did. I won’t judge. Just don’t eat it with a spoon. That’s crossing the line (but you’ll be tempted to I promise!)

I am so in love with this cinnamon creamer recipe. I’m almost out and plan on making some more tomorrow.

It takes next to no time at all and is crazy good and so worth the calories in my opinion. And when I used it in my iced coffee at our back-to-school brunch party, it tasted just like my fave Mocha Cappuccino Blast from Baskin Robbins!!! YUM!

That’s it. Easy.

Tips

You can also add 1/2 tsp of butter extract (did you know that was a thing?!) to make it taste more like a cinnamon roll!!!

If you don’t have half and half, you can use milk. It will taste the creamiest with Whole Milk but you can use whatever you prefer.

I have not tried this recipe with any non-dairy milk alternatives. You may be able to use them but I haven’t tried it out.

Swap out the white sugar for brown sugar for an even more dessert-like taste.

Note: No matter what flavor you make, just be sure to shake it up really well before you use it. The cinnamon tends to settle at the bottom of the jar. I’ve tried a few ways to keep this from happening but cinnamon is a jerk and it doesn’t play well with others.

Because you don’t use very much in your coffee, one batch makes a lot. This is why you should share it with people you love.

Store It

Store your creamer in an air-tight jar in your fridge. Because there are no preservatives, it won’t last as long as store-bought creamers. I would keep it for about a week.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it cheaper to make your own coffee creamer?

Store-bought flavored coffee creamers can be $3 or more a bottle. Making your own can really keep those costs down. Especially if you drink more than one cup of coffee, with creamer, a day.

Is DIY coffee creamer healthier?

Yes. While this coffee creamer does have a fair amount of sugar and fats, there are no chemicals except for any that might be found in the individual ingredients. If you look at store-bought coffee creamers, most of them include chemicals and added flavorings.

How long will the homemade coffee creamer stay fresh in the fridge?

The creamer will last for as long as the ingredients it is made from. Check the date on the half and half to see how long it stays good once the container is opened (most say use within 7 days of opening). Keep the recipe in an air-tight container in the fridge.

Made this last night. Am enjoying it in my coffee now. I didn’t have half and half so I used evaporated milk. I put it in my blender and mixed it up. Now this morning I was pleased with the taste. But it needed just a little more sugar since I used cream instead of half and half. I will be making again. Really is good.

I love adding a cinnamon to my iced coffee occasionally but it just sits on the top, so I decided to make a big batch of this with just the vanilla and then use some of it for a smaller batch with the cinnamon. Soooo good! The only changes I made were that I used only a teaspoon or two of vanilla and added the cinnamon to taste.
It was also plenty sweet without the added sugar so I omitted that as well.
I love that this recipe is so customizable to taste. Definitely a keeper!

  3. I have been looking for a recipe to make amaretto coffee creamer, it is almost impossible to find it in my area. I’m not the best cook/Baker, but can follow a recipe like a pro, . Do you have any suggestions? I appreciate your help!!

  4. This is amazing creamer! I used coconut milk (that is what I had on hand) for the condensed milk and monk fruit. I assure you this will be in my refrigerator at all times.
    Thank you!!!!!!

I used Cinnamon drop s that you use for candy. 0ne or two drops or add to your taste. I didn’t add sugar. Used skim milk blended with half n half and sweet milk. Ittlenless calories and the vanilla. Find the drops in Walmart aisle for candy making. No more cinnamon settlling to bottom.

    2. Would you please list the amount of monkfruit you used to substitute for seeetened condensed milk. Thanks

This is really good! I am addicted to coffee mate cinnamon vanilla which is no longer available in my area despite what Nestle says. This probably healthier in the fact that the only ingredients are milk, sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. I used a heaping tsp of cinnamon and right away saw it sink to the bottom so next time will definitely try the cinn extract. This has a stronger cinnamon flavor than coffee mate. I didn’t add the additional white sugar. Tasted it before adding to my coffee and it was sweet enough, give me a straw!

I found the Cinnamon Vanilla creamer (also my favorite) on Amazon!

    2. Keep asking your grocery store manager. Mine finally got it in; unfortunately, now I have this recipe. :)
Before now, only Walmart carried it and I do not shop there if I can help it!

I’m wondering how to make this a Cinnamon Mocha Creamer. I happened upon a store Brand Cinnamon Mexican Mocha and fell in love with it. But, now I have two problems- 1)I live rurally so I only go into town for grocery shopping once a month and I don’t remember what store I purchased it at, and 2)I’m not sure how to incorporate the Mocha flavoring in there. Ugh! Help!!

    1. Hmmmm, I’m not sure! I think to start I would add a TBSP of cocoa powder and go from there! The Cinnamon Mexican Mocha creamer sounds AMAZING by the way!

  7. Just made this (with a few tweaks for personal taste preference), and it’s fabulous! Very sweet and creamy! The butter extract really makes it work! Thank you!

  8. Cheryl Austin says:

Is this creamer freezable? I’m the only one in my family who likes cinnamon in her coffee, and I use it as a treat.

    1. Hi Cheryl, I’m not sure if it is freezable! I just know when I make this, that I will use it and then not make it again for a while. But you could always take half of the batch and give it to a neighbor or friend as a gift to get it out of your house. :)

I used soy milk since my daughter buys it for me and works great since it’s a thicker consistency also I highly recommend Saigon cinnamon you can find it at most grocery stores and online, the flavor is so amazing with a hint of natural sweetness, not your everyday cinnamon.

  10. I have a friend who loves cinnamon. I think I’m going to make this for her. Just because! Thanks for the idea

  11. This recipe sounds absolutely amazing! I can’t wait to try it!

    {Perfect for a treat and for entertaining, yes?}

  12. Looks good! I recently read a recipe by Sarah Kay Hoffman (aka The Gutsy Girl) who did a creamer recipe with coconut milk. I can’t stand coconut anything! In small doses your recipe looks like a way to indulge in a cup of coffee and make it feel super decadent without even leaving the house!

    1. Yes! That is why it is good to give it as gifts too. Probably don’t want to drink the WHOLE batch all by yourself. :)

  13. Maribel Reyes says:

you had me at cinnamon! yum! I’m sure I will find all the ingredients here! {Costa Rica} will add to my grocery list to enjoy it every morning!

    1. I love that the ingredients are easy to find. And it just takes a few minutes to make. But it is such a treat!
