For as long as I can remember, I’ve been on a quest to find the perfect hair products for my hair type and lifestyle. As a busy mom and a fairly lazy gal, who HATES to do her hair, my hair is basically frizzy at all times or up in a bun (and not one if those cute top knot situations). But I think I’ve finally found the combo of hair care products that work with my hair and how little time I want to put it on it. And that makes me SO happy! I love summer because it’s a little bit more acceptable to let your hair be messy and dry naturally. My hair works best in Palm Springs with the hot, dry air, but I only go there a few times a year so… There are some days where I need to blow dry it in order to look professional but most days I’m just hanging out with the kids. That doesn’t mean I don’t care how I look, it just means I don’t want to spend any time on it. And these hair products are the key to my current hair happiness.

From time to time I get a Keratin treatment to help with the frizz. And although those are something I’d like to do all the time, realistically I only get them once or twice a year due to the expense. I don’t want to get weird, but I want to hug all these products I’ve found. Maybe I’ve finally decided to just let my hair be how it wants to be. Maybe, at 40, I don’t quite care what people think of me or my hair. In any event, my hair still matters to me (some what) and I’m in love with these hair styling products. Here’s what’s crazy. I was using the It’s a 10 Miracle Leave In plus Keratin. It was good. I’ve re-bought it a bunch. Then, I picked up this Miracle Daily Conditioner when they didn’t have the other product. I thought this was also a leave in. It took a few days to get the amount right. A few times my hair was weighed down and a little crunchy. Then I hit the sweet spot. I know how much to apply (one full depression of the pump) and where to apply (mostly to the ends and once most of the product is off my hands, I’ll rub some on the top of my head and around the hair-line). Turns out, this is not a leave in product! But that’s how I’ve been using it. And it’s magical! My hair is really damaged and I think it’s doing really well with this extra moisture. It’s funny how sometimes an accident is what it takes to find the product you’ve been looking for. Plus it smells SO good. Why is my hair so damaged you ask? Over the past few years, we were being really careful with our money. So my regular hair appointments were put on hold. I was pretty ok with that, because I’m generally low maintenance and like to stretch out my appointments as long as I can. But I really missed the brightness highlights gave me around my face! So, Sun In. I’ve mentioned my love of Sun In before, but it’s been a really great, easy way to bring some light back to my hair especially in the months leading up to summer. And since I am no longer able to bask in the sun to have my hair lighten naturally (skin cancer sucks, y’all), this really helps. Maybe this is why my hair is so happy with full strength conditioner being left in…Usually when I have to get ready for an event or a night out, I always blow dry my hair straight and then use the straightener to smooth it out. That leaves my hair sleek but pretty flat. I’ve been looking for a way to change it up a little, and keep things more natural. I found this Texturizing Hair Spray from Ouai (pronounced “way” I think) and it’s game changing. It’s like a dry shampoo and hair spray in one. It gives me such good texture, plus helps to keep things in place. It’s kind of the perfect thing to embrace the natural wave in my hair but make it look more like I tried to get this look. I bought the travel size to try it out and will be going to get the full size bottle this afternoon. Just a note, it basically leaves a cloud around you when you spray it which I imagine might not be the best thing to breathe in so use in a well ventilated area…OBSESSED with this Verb Ghost Oil. So far, I’ve only been using this oil as a finisher on my dry hair, but you can use it on damp hair too. It’s supposed to restore and repair your hair which is awesome. The smell is clean, with a hint of citrus and it’s my newest favorite hair product! The other Verb products look great too. I can’t wait to check more of them out! I bought the small size for travel but they also have a larger size for home. And I know it’s not a hair product, but I am loving this After Sun aloe spray from Herbivore. My youngest got a little sun burnt a few weeks ago and this was a life saver. It helped to cool him down and soothe the skin.
Finding these hair products right as summer is starting is the best thing ever! It means, that my vacation hair doesn’t need a blow dryer and I can leave my straightener at home! I finally have the air dry hair I’ve been wanting!!! What are your go-to hair products for natural hair??
