Toasted Chocolate Sandwiches for Dessert

This Chocolate Sandwich Dessert Recipe is a Crowd-Pleaser

I love easy entertaining and dessert is my favorite time of day. Combine both of those things (and I often do!) and you get these yummy chocolate sandwiches made with just three ingredients.

I mentioned these amazing little chocolate sea salt sandwiches on a French baguette in a Whiskey post earlier. They are crazy good. 

This is one of those recipes where there is no real recipe so don’t be afraid to mix it up. Make it to your liking!

Here’s what you’ll need to make this easy chocolate sandwiches recipe.

These ingredients are simple and aside from the fresh baguette, can be kept on hand. Which means you can have these delicious chocolate sandwich snacks any time you want.

How to Make Chocolate Sandwiches on French Baguette

Step 1

Turn your oven on to 325 degrees. Slice your baguette pretty thinly and chop or grate your dark chocolate.

Step 2

Lay the baguette pieces out on a cookie sheet and give them a quick spray with olive oil. Toast them up. Don’t aim to get them too dark you really just want to heat them up enough to get crispy and warm enough to melt the chocolate.

Step 3

Working quickly on a few at a time, pile on as much or as little chocolate as you would like. Don’t be stingy, no one is judging you. And dark chocolate is good for you, right?

Step 4

Sprinkle on a little sea salt and top with another piece of toast.

Step 5

Set them back on the warm cookie sheet while you make the rest to help melt the chocolate a bit more.  If you want them melted even more, pop them back in the oven for a minute or two.

Variations

  • Hazelnut spread – Switch out the dark chocolate for Nutella.
  • Add fruit – Fresh berries pair well with chocolate, slice up some strawberries and add a few.
  • Cheese – Brie or mascarpone cheese would add a savory touch and they taste great with chocolate.

Tips

  • Keep an eye on the baguette during toasting. They will burn easily if you aren’t careful.

Yummmmmmmmmmmm. These chocolate sandwich snacks have the crunch and salt that remind me of what I love about chocolate covered pretzels.

I’m going to make these again. Like for breakfast. And then snacks. And after dinner. Totally make these for your friends. They will like you even more.
