Heading back to school usually means that fall is right around the corner (although here in So Cal it stays HOT well in to October). But fall doesn’t mean we can put away the sunscreen. While we might not be in swimsuits as much as we were during the vacation months, our skin still gets more sun than we think it does. Even a quick walk to school to pick up the kids is enough to result in sun damage. I’m sharing the best sunscreens for your face that you can use daily. This post contains affiliate links. What that means is if you purchase something through one of these links, I may get a little monetary reward. It’s usually only enough to pay for part of a bottle of my favorite wine, but hey! I’ll take it!
I’ll be honest. I HATE wearing sunscreen. I have fairly sensitive skin which is oily and prone to breakouts. Most sunscreens feel so heavy and pore clogging. But it’s a must! With my history of skin cancer and subsequent Moh’s surgery, I can’t be fooling around with the sun. And as I’m aging (gracefully, I hope) I am able to see more sun damage than ever before. Dermatologists aren’t kidding around when they tell you to protect yourself! These are the two sunscreens that I use daily on my face. If I am planning on being out in the sun for swimming or prolonged periods of time, I will amp this up even more, with a specific sunscreen for your face with a higher SPF. But this is my daily routine for face sunscreen. This Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is awesome! It goes on really easily, and absorbs in to the skin really well. It doesn’t leave a weird film on top of the skin that makes you feel awful about piling makeup on top of it. It has SPF 15, which is rather low, but I feel good about using this one daily. It’s an oil free moisturizer so it hydrates and protects. And you can use this on your neck also. I really hate to put sunscreen on my neck usually. My hair sticks to the tacky sunscreen and gets all ratty and awful. That doesn’t happen with this one!
Neutrogena Hydro Boost GelAfter I finish my makeup, I top it with a few swipes of this Colorescience powder mineral sunscreen. This one comes in 4 colors and several SPF options. I keep this one with me and easily reapply throughout the day. I would NEVER apply a lotion sunscreen over my makeup. This makes it super easy to protect yourself. Even though it comes in a few colors, it doesn’t really deposit too much color.
These are my two favorite sunscreens that I use daily on my face! I’m always searching for great sunscreens to try! Let me know what you’re loving so I can try those too!
