Kids books are so stinking cute! I love a book that is clever and colorful and a little out of the ordinary. Books are the perfect tool to introduce big ideas to kids, in a super approachable way. And they also make great gifts. And we picked up a new one, The Day the Crayons Came Home, that we think you all should get too!
The Day the Crayons Came Home is the follow-up to The Day the Crayons Quit, which is another one of our favorites. The illustration in these books is fantastic and the stories are laid out in a really unique way.
The new book even includes glow in the dark pages! A totally fun touch that the kids love. If you aren’t familiar with the first book, the crayons decide to quit because their owner isn’t using them the way they would like to be used. The story is told through letters written by the crayons. In this new book, the story is told through postcards written by the crayons and includes new color characters. In my opinion neon red is the star of the show. The postcards talk of misadventures of crayons long forgotten. It has the same humor as the first book which makes it so much fun. The ages suggested for this book are K-3 so if you have children that age, definitely consider getting them this book or stocking up on a few extras to give as gifts to classmates. This book is a little bit quicker to read than the first once which makes it a plus in my book so I can get back to my reality shows, you know what I’m sayin? The writing might make it hard for new readers to try to attempt as apparently crayons write very similarly to children. As an added bonus, grandmas seem to really enjoy this book as well. It really is fun for the whole family.
The Day the Crayons Came Home is one of our new favorite books and we wanted to share it with your family too!
