Today I am kicking off my holiday gift guides for this year! It may seem a little early to some, but I’ve already started shopping and I know I’m not the only one. You know I love to plan a party. And luckily, a lot of my friend’s do too. So here is my 2014 gift guide for the hostess in your life. These types of gifts are also perfect for engaged couples, newlyweds, someone who has just moved out for the first time, someone who has just moved in to a new home, or for someone who likes pretty things.
I like to give gifts that are fun that people wouldn’t usually buy for themselves, but that also, most likely, have a use. And of course, everyone is different but these are things that I probably wouldn’t buy for myself but would absolutely love to give (or get!) You can’t go wrong with a cake stand! And if it is a conversation starter, like these, then all the better! These super bendy straws are a must to keep on hand for all your entertaining. These dazzle not only kids but adults too. You can tie them in knots, make them in to a corkscrew and they come in fun bright colors. The packs are inexpensive so these would make a great gift topper. And this rad print, from The Flair Exchange, will remind them to party all the time.
What makes a candle a good gift? Usually, it has to do with the vessel it is housed in. You want to pick something that can be reused once the candle is all gone. This flashy gold candle could easily become a chic pencil holder on someone’s desk. And when you pair it with a fun box of matches, it becomes even more of a gift. I like to look for unique things, with a little bit of humor like the fruit and veg bowls and the headless bird pitcher. Have I mentioned my sweet tooth? Surprisingly, not everyone has had the opportunity to try my favorite treat, Crack Pie. While the recipe is out there, its like a 12 step process that takes FOREVER. I’m dying to try this mix to see just how close it tastes to the real thing. And these gorgeous gold pie servers would be a nice thing to pair with the mix to complete the gift. And even if your pal doesn’t live near a beach, this beach sheet is a great idea to add to their hostess arsenal. It’s perfect for picnics in the park or even their backyard. It also works perfect as an easy tablecloth.
I am addicted to cookbooks and style books, although I stopped buying them for myself since I have no room for them and have to keep them in the garage. These 3 are my top picks for gifting this year. Joy the Baker’s first cookbook is a total fave of mine. Every single recipe in it sounds like something you would want to make and the instructions are easy to follow and not super out of my skill set. Her newest book, Homemade Decadence is perfection for someone with a sweet tooth like me! Super star blogger, Camille Styles, just put out her entertaining focused book and it’s full of pretty pictures and tips for creating thoughtful parties. If you love the style of her blog, you will love this book, and so will the person you gift it to. And last but not least, this book by Brooks Headley is more of an inspirational book for me. The fancy desserts are a little out of my league but I am super in to the touches of humor and the style in which the book was photographed and styled. It’s cool, real cool. Just like these gold bunny ears! I don’t know about you, but my kids love to throw some bunny ears behind someone in a photo. They would get a total kick out of having these in our house. Or it’s a super cool peace sign. Either way, it’s gold and it’s fun.
