I’m not saying you shouldn’t spend time with your family on Mother’s Day. I’m just saying that maybe part of your gift could be these 5 things plus an hour or so to enjoy them without having to run all over town or handle your usual mom duties. It’s pretty much the perfect Mother’s Day celebration if you ask me! Just send this post to your husband…

Spring is the perfect time to refresh everything! The drab winter months are over and the spring cleaning can commence. But I don’t just clean my house. I like to use spring as a time to refresh my beauty routine and do some spring cleaning of my skin and mind also. I decided to create a beauty gift basket for my mom’s Mother’s Day gift this year. Sometimes we don’t take the time for ourselves unless someone else encourages us to do so. By creating this fun gift idea for her, I know that she’ll be able to enjoy taking a little extra time to pamper herself instead of feeling guilty for doing so. Plus I’m sharing a fun new way to put together a gift basket. Spoiler alert: you don’t need a basket!

Spring has sprung and the weather has started to warm up. And we get to celebrate our favorite mothers on Mother’s Day. There are many wonderful mother figures in my life and I am so grateful for the time I get to spend with them. But this year, one mom in particular is blowing my mind (and, quite frankly, making me feel a little inadequate). This Mother’s Day, my sister-in-law will be celebrating her first as a mom of 4 kids. Her family recently fostered two toddler boys and it instantly doubled her family. She has handled this (and ALL the stress that comes with it) with such grace and love. She is truly a role model and deserves a little extra praise. But I also want to encourage her to find time for herself. Read through for a delicious adult-friendly Buttered Cheerios™ recipe with Truffle Oil that she can easily make during their regular snack time!
1. Bake muffins :: A fancy schmancy breakfast is ok too but making muffins (even from a box) is awesome. Not only will she get a nice warm muffin for breakfast, but chances are there are leftovers which means the kid’s breakfast is taken care of for the next few days. It’s the gift that keeps giving. Be sure to serve them with a cute napkin!
2. A pretty fruit bowl :: Grab her favorite fruits, make sure it is colorful and tuck a gorgeous bloom (like the stunning orchid above) in to the bowl. It’s silly to say the flower makes fruit better but look at it. Who wouldn’t want to have this in front of them!
3. A new coffee mug :: You know she is going to drink coffee so why not surprise her with a special mug. Make sure it is something that she might pick for herself or plan ahead and order one with a special message or photo on it. It will be a nice touch that she is sure to appreciate.
4. Sweet messages :: Have the kids leave candy messages around for mom to find. Ask them to write out words that describe what they think of their mom. What mom wouldn’t love finding affirming words that she can eat?! You can order Gummy Alphabet Letters here.
5. Relaxation station :: Mother’s Day doesn’t end after brunch. Set up a place for her to hang out the rest of the day. Set out mimosas, some spa water and a comfy place for her to catch up on her reading, pinning on Pinterest or even just sitting in quiet for a few minutes.
These are super simple tips for giving Mom a great Mother’s Day. But of course, these can be used on her birthday, or any other regular old day that you want to show your Mom you care.

A few months ago I was browsing a super cute local boutique, Oh Hello Friend in Fullerton, when I came across this adorable book! I was shopping for my mother-in-law’s birthday and thought this would be the perfect gift for my boys to give her. These books come with the story already and then you illustrate it. This draw your own story gift book is so cool.
Not only is the story really cute but they were great prompts for the boys to draw from. I had both boys work on the book which was great because you can see the different skill level from each boy. This book is great for kids who love to draw and have a good attention span. My five year old was pretty good, but my 8 year old was over it pretty quick. So keep that in mind if you are trying to decide if this is something your kids would be down for.
Grandma LOVED this gift. We all passed it around and looked at all the drawings. The draw your own story gift books come in a few different titles but I think this “Grandma is a Superhero” book would make a great mother’s day gift. If you are local, you can pick one up at Oh Hello Friend. Online find Grandma is a Superhero here.
I have found you the perfect Mother’s Day gift to give and get! I went to the Craft and Hobby Show in January and came across these awesome little photo album’s made by We R Memory Keepers, specifically for printed Instagram pictures. I fell in love immediately. They come in tons of great colors and are the cutest little size. So grab some flowers, pour mom a glass of champaign and make her an Instagram photo album for Mother’s Day.
With the mini album, you use plastic sleeves and Albums Made Easy Kits, also from We R Memory Keepers. They come in all kinds of designs and are the perfect way to enhance the Instagram photos. They take this from an ordinary photo album to an actual gift.
I had my photos printed via Printstagram and then spread them out to see what I had to work with. I don’t know what it is about Instagram photos but they make me so happy. It probably has something to do with the fact that I love my kids more than life itself and most of my Instagram pictures are of their darling little faces.
