Have you started your holiday shopping yet? I’ve slowly been picking things up over the last few months as I’ve found things on sale or that are perfect for one of my family members. Today I’m sharing my holiday gift ideas for the hostess. With all the winter parties that were are about to throw or be invited to, these gifts are perfect to pick up and have on hand for last-minute gifting needs! I could probably combine this gift guide with my girlfriend guide, as a lot of these things are items any girl would love. But I prefer to keep them separate because only someone who loves to throw parties would really love some of these gift ideas. I mean, not everyone is going to get excited over a pretty bowl… When I think of the word “hostess”, I don’t think Martha level expertise in the ways of hosting people in your home or cooking a 4-course meal any night of the week. Or ever. To me, being a hostess means that you enjoy preparing food for your friends, even if it is a store-bought meal. It means, you love to make them feel special and pay attention to the little details that will make them remember your evening together. They may not even realize that you took the mustard out of its dumb jar and put it into a pretty little dish but subconsciously they know you put extra care in to their meal.

The gorgeous copper bottle stoppers, from Martha Stewart, are PERFECT for party throwers. These will ensure that even open bottles of wine are dressed up and coordinating. Plus they are super practical and don’t need to be used only at parties. These would totally elevate your Thursday night glass of wine.
I think wine is where people can easily get in to a rut. We find our favorite bottles and stick to them. Which I totally get. But I also really enjoy trying new types of wine. I recently got to taste a bunch from Southern Italy and fell in love with them. A bottle of an interesting or something from another country is a great gift idea. The recipient can either open it and enjoy or save it for her next party. Here are a few really cool wines that I am enjoying right now. The bottle pictured above, 2013 Cantine Neri Ca’Viti, is easy drinking and suited for aficionados as well as people who don’t know what they like other than white or red. It’s a white wine blend with no oakiness with a hint of a floral note. Did I just make up some wine descriptive words? Maybe. I much prefer white wine over red. Until I met this guy right here. It’s not overtly fruity and has a black pepper finish. It’s crazy, interesting, arresting and wonderful. This 2012 Conte d’Attimis-Maniago Schioppettino is worth the price. It’s not something I’d drink every day. I am, after all, a white wine lover. But this is something that I plan to have around all winter to share with anyone who will try it. Have you ever met your wine soul mate? I have. And it’s this 2014 Angelucci Leonate IGP Pecorino. It’s crisp and when you taste it you think green. It’s kind of grassy with a hit of green apple. It’s different from the whites you find on the shelf in your grocery store. Definitely get this to share with someone who loves to try new wines! But it’s also something my mom would love and she’s not in to wine at all. It’s a great wine to have on hand for a party. Seriously stocking up on these. Often I get gift ideas based on things I’ve been given. Once I get to try something out and see how great it is, I just know I have to share it with other people. I just got these cute little Le Creuset mini cocottes and LOVE them. They are perfect for someone who likes to dabble in the kitchen. This set comes with one red and one white. They are oven safe and perfect for making homemade pot pies as well as making mug cakes…Pair these with some other gourmet food items and you can create a fun foodie themed gift in no time at all! And for those extra fun friends who like to have music and games at their parties, get them University of Dope. It’s still in the kickstarter stage but I’ve already ordered mine. It’s a card game that tests your basic knowledge of hip hop culture. I might not be good at the questions about current artists but I can totally hold my own for anything 90’s rap related.

2015 gift guide (Yes, I know it says 2016. Dumb.) I lumped everything altogether in one big post last year.
