This is one of my favorite gifts to give for a kid’s birthday. Kid Made Modern by Todd Oldham is full of fun crafts for kids BUT done in a way that parents would find appealing as well. Inspired by mid-century modern design, you actually want to display these projects when completed. I embrace this type of kid product. Don’t dumb down art for the kids, use it as a way to introduce them to something new to them. So when I heard that Todd (I can call him by his first name because I have loved him since watching him on House of Style and other fashion-y shows in high school and that was a LONG time ago) was doing a new collaboration with Target I was really excited.
Sort of as an extension of this book, Target and Todd have come out with craft kits! And I am in love. Each kit comes with directions on how to complete the project but leaves plenty of room to celebrate a kid’s unique sense of style or design.
There will also be some supplies sold. How ridiculous are the designs on the duct tape?! I can’t wait to get my hands on it. And these colored pencils are super gorgeous colors.
Check out a few more photos of the Kid Made Modern line on the Target’s blog, A Bullseye View and don’t forget to watch his video. How darling is Mr. Oldham with a beard! On a side note, did you know about A Bullseye View? It is Target’s online magazine sharing info on their collaborations, events and behind the scenes of what they are working on. It’s rad! Check it out!
Collection will be in stores May 20! I will be there!
