My 8 year old son gets all the credit for this DIY.  Last month he was super in to those loom bracelets.  One day I had a bunch of rubber bands sitting out and he started linking them together like you would if you were making a bracelet.  Duh.  That would make for a super cute and super easy loom-inspired rubber band garland.

And because this is inspired by a super hot fad in kidland, you could probably even talk your kids in to making these for you.  Genius.

I was about to hop on to YouTube to see what other ways I could put these rubber bands together but then I stopped myself.  No need to go down that rabbit hole.  I just wanted to share the idea with you and if you want to get crazy and learn how to make cooler looking chains, go for it.  This is super simple.  You are basically just looping rubber bands through each other.

Here is a better look at it.  My next step from here would be to slide another rubber band through each of the loops that my fingers are holding down.

To finish it off so the entire garland doesn’t unloop just pull the last rubber band through the loops and then pull one side back through itself…sounds more complicated than it is.   Promise.

I love this color rubber band and think it would work in a ton of different party decor set ups.  This is actually the second time I’ve used rubber bands in party garlands.  The first time I used much larger, thinner rubber bands and just sort of knotted them end to end…I totally get it, I am NOT describing things well today.  You can only kind of see them in this post of my son’s Lego Dance Party but hey, the party turned out really fun so you should probably just read the post anyway.

Is it just me?  Do you think these are cool?  I kind of really like how they look.  And swirly balloons.  I like those a lot too.

  1. Your creative work only proves that the use of loom bands are getting wider. Some creators shared their work at http://daisyloom.com/loom-designs/ . They’ve presented different colors and designs which I really admire. Probably, they receive inspirations from other enthusiasts like you. And, the balloons are beautiful too.
