Kitchen Sink OREO Cookie Balls Recipe with Dippers

*This is a sponsored post on behalf of OREO.  All opinions are my own.

#cookieballsMy family goes through a bag of OREOs like nobodies business.  They are a favorite of my kids, my husband and I have also been known to eat one or 30 of them for a snack.  And even my son’s pickiest friends will indulge in a cookie snack while over for a play date.  So while I like sharing the cookies as it is, I also like to use them in sweet treats (OREO stuffed chocolate chip cookies anyone???).  OREO has a classic cookie ball recipe that they invited me to put my own spin on and share with my readers.  So I reached out to my pal, Kristin of Meringue Bake Shop, to come and create with me.  The holidays are all about sharing and spending time together.  Kristin and I love to be creative together so I thought this would be a fun way to get to hang out and create something super yummy.  Plus, she’s a pro in the sweets department.

Oreo-Cookie-Ball-Basic-IngredientsThe basic cookie ball recipe includes a whole package of OREOs, a block of cream cheese and some baking chocolate.  Kristin and I are both really inspired by Christina Tossi of Momofuko Milk Bar and her ridonkulous Compost Cookies.  So we decided to create our version in cookie ball form.  But instead of creating a ball that you might eat like a truffle, we decided to make it a little bit larger (I LOVE me some sweets) and  serve it with dippers as you might with a cheese ball.

add-ins-for-the-oreo-cookie-ballAs if cream cheese and crushed OREOs  isn’t delicious enough, we decided to add in some pecans, instant coffee and toffee bits.  Word to your mother.

using-mixer-to-cream-oreos-and-cream-cheeseAdd everything to your mixer and mix it all up.

roll-in-to-cookie-ballsRoll them up.

roll-balls-in-chopped-chocolateRoughly chop some semi sweet baking chocolate.  Roll each ball in the chocolate.  Try your best to not throw cleanliness to the wind and put your face in the bowl of chocolate.  You know you want to.  Don’t worry, there will be some leftover.  I don’t see the harm in adding a little bit of milk to the bowl and eating it like cereal…

kitchen-sink-oreo-cookie-dessert-ball-dipsMmmmmmmmm.  You know how when there is a cheese ball at a party?  And there is that one person just going at it, double dipping with their chips and grossing up the joint?  You totally don’t have that with these kitchen sink OREO cookie balls.  These are sized to have each guest take one on their own plate to enjoy.

individual-kitchen-sink-oreo-cookie-ballsNow let’s talk for a second about how you eat this.  I’m a big big fan of sweet and salty.  So it really just makes sense to eat these with pretzels, potato chips and graham cracker sticks.  Am I right?  You guys, the chips are my fave with this dessert dip.  Its good.  Real good.

oreo-balls-for-holiday-entertainingThese would be perfect for just about any type of gathering.  It is up to you if you want to leave out the instant coffee if you are going to share these with your kids.  They may never sleep again.  These will probably be attending any holiday function I get invited to.  And they will also be keeping me company on New Year’s Eve with a glass of champagne.  These are super easy to transport to a holiday potluck.  Or to pack in your lunch to take to work.

oreo-ball-dessert-dipKristin and I had a really great time creating these OREO cookie balls and are pleased to share them with you.  We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do this holiday season!  You can see what other fabulous bloggers are creating by searching #cookieballs and you can follow OREO on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

*P.S. Imma keep it really real.  I’m not one of those bloggers that works on holiday posts in July.  If I’m being honest, I don’t even know where my holiday decorations are in the garage.  While these pictures may not look very holiday, trust me that theses OREO cookie balls will fit in with whatever blue and silver, red and green or black and gold decor you may have in your house.
