Drink:Eat:Play, ‘nuf said

I know that a lot of my posts start off with, “I can’t remember where I heard about this…” but I am really bad at keeping track of things like that. I promise to try to be better, for blog’s sake. So anyway, I can’t remember how I came across Drink:Eat:Play, but my life is better because of them. While I have yet to make it to Los Angeles for one of their fun events, their unique themes are perfect to recreate at home with your friends. Who is Drink:Eat:Play? I don’t know for sure, but I do know they like to have fun. And they like to eat. The first event I tried to rally the troops for (I usually try to play cruise director but when the events are in LA, I think I would have better luck asking people to come over so I can preform root canals on them. And I am in no way dentally knowledgeable. Yes it is a word.) was the Cupcake Challenge. The top bakeries in LA were set to square off against each other. The cost was a bit steep to attend but you got to taste all the cupcakes and drink a little wine too. I think the next time I can get all my girls together we should recreate our own little cupcake-off, just for fun. We could create a signature drink and decorate with cute yet simple blumeboxes and some of the really cute party stuff at Target by Cynthia Rowley. This would also be a great way to change up a baby or bridal shower. You could ask each guest to bring a dozen of their best cupcakes and hold your own challenge. Then last week, I got another email from Drink:Eat:Play for a Gourmet 5 Year Old party!!!! Yes, they are bringing together some of the top chefs from the area to create updated masterpieces of kid favorites. Think higher end Mac & Cheese with Lobster and Kobe Beef sloppy joes! Again, what a great idea to recreate at home with your friends. This one would work great as a co-ed potluck. I would for sure make my blue cheese Mac & Cheese (well, mine now, since I no longer speak to the girl I got the recipe from). There would be plenty of chocolate and strawberry milk served in fancy adult glasses with cute straws. What would you bring to the party? Unique party themes are everywhere, you just have to be inspired and let the party planning juices start to flow. Ah juice, another kid favorite. That could be updated quite nicely with a little rum…
