Shwings for your Kid’s Shoes

Shwings are wings for your shoesHow cool are those Shwings, wings for your shoes?!  I have to be honest, I have seen these on the cool kids on Instagram and wasn’t sold.  They were certainly not something that I had to run out and buy for my boys.  How lucky then, that Shwings were included in our goody bag from the Rockin Boys Club launch party (btw, have you checked out Rockin Boys Club yet?  LOVE that site!)?!  Because I am now in love with these.

Shwings mustache for your shoesMy oldest son is currently very in to mustaches.  I hope he has no plans on growing one of his own (he is 7 but his dad still has trouble growing facial hair and he is well over 7…).  His head exploded when I showed these to him.  And then we were late for school lacing them on to his shoes.  But it was well worth it.  His feet were the talk of the class.  And I got a huge laugh as I was walking away from dropping him off that morning after hearing him say to the teacher, “looks like my shoes could use a shave.”  The side we have facing outward is flat black with a hint of shine.  The opposite side is this really fun black glitter finish.  I love that these would be right at home on girls or boys.  It’s the details, people.  And that touch of fluorescent green around the edges is super awesome.

wings for your kids shoesI had no idea I loved neon as much as I do.  And this BRIGHT coral orange made me, and my youngest son, SO happy.  I worried that he might think he could actually fly with these wings.  He has not yet tried, to my knowledge.  Or else he really can fly.  Shwings would make a great gift for every kid.  Check out their site to see all their varieties.  For about $8 you can’t go wrong.

*This is not a sponsored post.  While I was given these for free as part of a gift bag, I was under no obligation to share with my readers.  I truly think Swings are awesome and wanted you to know about them.

New Mini and Maximus Collection

shaka muchacha mini and maximus

So this post was supposed to be about my favorite kid’s fashion for spring.  But then Mini and Maximus went and released their new Shaka Muchacha collection and I’m totally in love with it so I decided to share that with you.

modern hero blanket by mini and maximusThey have a few new product offerings for this collection.  I am OBSESSED  with this blanket.  I want it for one of my son’s rooms.  But I know how they are.  They would not be cool with the lavender color.  I’m pretty sure I’m going to buy it anyway.  You know, for them.  Or for me to use at picnics…

Loving the new ‘Declare Independence’ design.  And they have released several designs as pillows as well.  They have new artwork and also added a hat to this collection.  I will be ordering that hat as soon as I am done with this post.

Open Love Letter to Dez and Tam Photography

Desi and Tammy and FamThere are many reasons why people get in to blogging.  For me it started out as a creative outlet when I was stuck in a job that I did not love, that did not utilize my creative talents.  But it has grown in to an avenue for meeting the most amazing people.  This family is very dear to me.  Desi and Tammy, and their two precious boys, are an awesome family.  They are endlessly supportive, extremely talented and ridiculously nice people.  Their photography and the fact that they are willing to share their passion and skill with me is something I truly treasure.  If you look through the photos taken of my family over the past 2 years, my favorites were taken by them.  They have a way of capturing my kids in states of pure joy that makes me tear up every time I see them.  Their style is casual and they do minimal editing of the photos, keeping the moment real and not over processed.  The result is beautiful treasured memories.

I am going to be sharing more of the things I love on the blog.  And I love Dez and Tam Photography.  I know I have posted about them before and I will continue to.  They are amazing at what they day and should be celebrated.  If you are looking for someone to shoot a birthday party or family portraits, these are the photographers for you!

*Desi and Tammy are very kind to me and often work for me at no charge or a discounted rate.  They did not ask me to write this post.  I am writing it because in my opinion, they are the best and I want everyone to know about them!

Easy Sequin Tassel Tutorial

Easy Gold Sequin Tassel DIY TutorialYo.  What’s up.  Today I wanted to share the easiest tassel tutorial ever.  I give you:  Easy Sequin Tassels.  I made these for my balloon Valentine’s but they could be used in so many other ways.  I would love to get a gift with one of these cuties.  Or hung on a Christmas tree!

gold sequin tassels with mint and peach yarnI like how these sequin tassels are a little bit looser than a normal tassel.  And that they don’t require you to wrap things tight around your hand so it gets stuck and you feel like a nerd trying to get it loose.  Or maybe i’m just doing it wrong…They way I did this tutorial, you make two at a time.

sequins and yarnThe main supply that you might need to order for this craft is the sequin trim.  I picked this up at Paper Mart (hey Orange County – their warehouse is in Orange and you can will call your orders.  HUGE!  Your welcome.)  Then you just need yarn or string to tie them off and scissors.  Nothing complicated about this.

steps to diy tutorialThere are no measurements for this.  Wing it.  You will need to cut of a length of the trim.  Loop it about 4-5 times.  Pull the yarn through the sequin loops on one side and tie a knot.

tie knots at both endsDo the same thing on the other end.  Or don’t.  If you want to do just one long tassel, you would cut the loops and then trim up the ends so they are even.

cut the tassels apartIf you do want two, cut them apart in the middle.  One side will be a little bit more full due to it having an extra loop.

easy sequin tassel garland diySuper easy.  Super sparkly.  Super fun.

DIY gold sequin tasselsHow would you use these sequin tassels?

gold sequin tassel garlandYou can even make them in to a garland.  This one is totally whack but sometimes that is just how my crafts go.  I was too lazy to dig around my garage for the perfect thing to hang them from.  But you can see the potential and if you are so inclined, make it better.  I also like things messy so I like the pop of color from the yarn ends.  Feel free to trim it off if it offends you.  This couldn’t be any easier, right?
