I think sometimes scarves get a bad rap. The word alone makes me think of old school flight attendants and their perfect little neck scarves serving peanuts and Coke. But they can be real cool and I’m going to show you how to use a scarf two ways. I promise, no one will ask you for an extra blanket.
I love to find simple ways to make something feel extra special. And while champagne feels pretty darn special on its own, even that can use some dressing up once in a while. I keep dried rose petals on hand so I can easily make my favorite goat cheese appetizer recipe so I like to figure out how else to fit them in to my cocktails or cooking. This rose rimmer for your glass is super simple but adds a fun bit of color and taste to your glass of bubbly.
We love Netflix in this house. My husband loves to watch movies while I prefer TV shows. My kids are open to both and love to discover new shows they’ve never heard of before. Everyone I knew had been talking about how good Scandal was. So when I saw that the first 4 seasons were on Netflix, I decided to check it out. Once I started, I couldn’t stop and the Netflix binge watching began. I watched 4 seasons in a few weeks. It was consuming me. I would sit down to watch an episode at lunch and end up watching them until I had to pick up the kids at school. I’d go to bed early so I could watch a few at night. Once I was 2 episodes in, I knew my husband would like the show too, but I couldn’t stop to let my husband get caught up. (I did make him jump in for the new season that began on network TV, but I’ve had to explain A LOT!). It would have been so much fun to have someone sharing the emotional highs and lows of binge watching with me which is why I’m sharing ideas for how to have a Netflix binge watching party. Also, if you are packing all the shows in to a day or two – depending on how many seasons, you’ll get your life back sooner. Your family will thank you.
This post was sponsored by ALDI as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I love when a new grocery store comes to town! ALDI has expanded in to the West Coast and I couldn’t be more excited. There has been a quiet anticipation for months as opening dates were leaked and articles began appearing in the papers explaining why this store is different from the others. While my closest store is about 25 minutes away, it happens to be right around the corner from my mom’s house which means I will have tons of opportunity to shop there. So you know I had to check it out. The stores are much smaller than most grocery stores. I was worried that they would only carry the very basics and you’d be forced to finish your shopping somewhere else. But that was not the case at all! Since I entertain often, I decided to see if I could put together a nice spread for having friends over. There is nothing worse than picking up most of your items and having to make an extra stop for those last few things. That wasn’t the case at all!
You have to make a brownie cake. For real. Because look how cute it is. I love to serve things in a new way at the parties I throw. It’s such a fun way to add special details that the guests will love. Sure, you can serve a plain old cake. But why not serve a brownie cake? It’s something you don’t see everyday, everyone (well, just about everyone) loves brownies and it’s SO easy. So just make one, ok?
This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #TriscuitSummer #CollectiveBiasWhy should the kids have all the fun? I say we should make a stand this summer and declare adult playdates a thing. Mom-ing is hard work and I think we should make some time to chill out with our friends and do whatever we want for a few hours. Let’s be honest, we really just want to sit still for a little while and not have to get anyone milk or step on Legos. So I say grab your best gals, have a girl’s night in and unwind. Don’t let hosting stress you out. Girl’s night food doesn’t have to be complicated. I’m sharing an almost all no-cook menu with you plus a super easy flank steak appetizer recipe. The idea of playdates takes on a whole new life when you look at them this way, doesn’t it?
